Sven Serspinski has over 20 years of experience including single employer pension matters, valuation, financial restructuring and investment banking. With the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), Corporate Finance and Restructuring Department in Washington, DC, Mr. Serspinski manages cases within PBGC’s Early Warning Program and risk management. This involves managing financial analysis, formulating negotiation strategies, conducting negotiations with pension plan sponsors, other creditors or stakeholders of pension plan sponsor companies, settlements with such sponsors and stakeholders, and pension plan terminations; all while interpreting and applying the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), Internal Revenue Code and termination guidelines and procedures. In addition to reviewing corporate transactions which may pose risk to PBGC’s insurance program, Mr. Serspinski participates on Unsecured Creditors’ Committees in certain Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

Prior to PBGC, Mr. Serspinski was a Director of C&J Valuation Advisors, a division of Coulter & Justus, PC based in Knoxville, TN where he managed and executed client projects and conducted business development activities. Earlier in his career, he worked for a private investment group in London, England. Still earlier, an investment banker in New York with Houlihan Lokey where he worked on financial restructuring engagements and Chapter 11 advisory assistance to debtor companies and creditor groups, business valuations, solvency opinions, fairness opinions, and mergers & acquisitions. He was also with Lehman Brothers at the start of his career.

Mr. Serspinski is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) by the American Society of Appraisers. He received an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a B.A. from the University of Colorado.
