Chris is Chairman of Hughes Hubbard’s Corporate Reorganization and Bankruptcy department. His practice includes judicial and out-of-court insolvency matters and financial litigation. He routinely briefs congressional committees, domestic and foreign regulators, self-regulatory organizations, and industry groups, and is a regular panelist and lecturer on topics including "too big to fail" insolvencies, cross-border bankruptcies, and complex financial litigation.

Chris was named among the fourteen Outstanding Restructuring Lawyers of 2017 by Turnarounds & Workouts, and he is recognized by Chambers and Legal 500 as one of the country’s leading lawyers. He is a co-author of the treatise “Collier on Bankruptcy,” he currently chairs the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganization, and he is a Past Chairman of the Federal Bar Council Bankruptcy Litigation Committee.

His recent experience in maritime restructuring includes serving as Debtor’s counsel in the pre-packaged Chapter 11 of Ultrapetrol (Bahamas) Ltd., as counsel to DNB Bank as DIP Lender and Exit Lender in the Gulfmark Offshore Chapter 11, and as counsel to Credit Suisse AG as DIP Lender and Section 363 Acquirer in the Excel Maritime Chapter 11.
